How should I wash my carrier?

Belle carriers are machine washable, although hand-washing, delicate cycles and/or front loading machines will increase the life of your carrier.  Cold water is preferred and the carriers should be line-dried.

What fabrics do you use?

The Classic Line (Black, Cappuccino, and Orange Blossom) are all 100% polyester, while the Hoot uses polyester and cotton fabrics. The Organic Black, Organic Sand, Organic Jubilee and Organic Moss fabrics contain a blend of certified organic cotton and hemp. The organic carriers all use non-toxic environmentally friendly dyes. Belle uses hemp because hemp is grown without the use of pesticides, it has antibacterial qualities, and it is more breathable than cotton.

What other materials are used in manufacturing the carriers?

All Belle carriers incorporate two welded steel rings in the waistbelt, nylon buckles for the shoulder straps, and a waistbelt ring pad cut from industry-seconds natural rubber yoga mats that are PVC and phthalate free.

Why does the Belle use metal rings on the waistbelt?

Metal rings are safer. The Belle is designed to carry the baby’s weight primarily on the waistbelt, so it is important that the waistbelt is extremely secure.  Plastic buckles can weaken or get crushed and can break unexpectedly.  The rings are made of welded steel and are extremely strong.  The rings may need to be tightened a little after wearing the carrier for a while, but when used properly, the rings will not allow the waistbelt to come undone.

Where is the Belle made?

Belle carriers are all manufactured in Colorado, U.S.A. Belle also uses a Denver warehousing and distribution facility to reduce fossil fuel consumption and minimize its manufacturing and distribution footprint.  Local manufacturing allows Belle to monitor quality and labor standards more easily.

Can I wear the Belle on my back or hip?

No. Belle is intended for use only on the front of the parent’s body. However, your baby can face toward you or away.

What size is your carrier and who does it fit?

Belle carriers come in one size and are automatically adjusted to fit most  users.  The waistbelt is 49 inches long.  If you are a larger parent, we suggest you visit one of our dealers and try on the carrier to make sure it will work for you.

What are the weight limits and what do they mean?

The Belle is ideal for babies 8 – 30 pounds. For a smaller baby it is important to that your baby will fit in the carrier in the normal position – one leg out each side of the carrier - comfortably.  We do not recommend folding your baby's legs inside the carrier as this may create a fall hazard.

The maximum weight for the Belle carrier is a matter of comfort and personal preference.  The Belle carriers are extremely strong and can hold a heavy child.  However, once a child reaches 25-30 pounds, many parents prefer to wear their children on their backs for a better center of gravity.

How do I wear my baby safely in the Belle baby carrier?

Always inspect your carrier for defects before using it.  Always support your baby with one hand while putting on or taking off the carrier.   Never undo the waistbelt when carrying your child.

While using any baby carrier, you should wear sturdy shoes and take extra care to avoid fall hazards.  You should never handle sharp objects or cook while wearing your baby.  You should never jostle your baby by engaging in high impact activities like dancing or jogging, and you should never ride a bike, motorbike, scooter, skateboard, or any other moving apparatus or vehicle while wearing your baby.  Lastly, you should never wear your baby in an automobile – children should always be in an approved car seat.
